Walkington commits to Augustana Vikings

Originally from the United Kingdom, Walkington calls Saskatoon home and was inspired by his dad who not only played but also coached for many years at the University of Saskatchewan.  Mackenzie was a great fit to return to Melville for his final junior season, as his family is originally from the area and he continues to have many relationships to the “Parkland” region.

“Hockey runs deep in the Walkington family, and I believe Mac benefits from that and has developed a strong hockey IQ,” says coach Green. “Mac will bring a strong work ethic while being a strong playmaker with a hard shot!”

Walkington has spent time in the SJHL, MJHL, and the OJHL and he was set to be an offensive leader with the Millionaires.  Unfortunately the season was cancelled and the fans in Melville did not have the opportunity to see Mackenzie perform.

“Mackenzie is a great individual.  He was here a short time, but I really enjoyed him.  He is very detailed and committed.   He has a strong skill set”, stated General Manager / Head Coach Mike Rooney.  “Our organization wish the best for Mackenzie”
