Melville Millionaires Report Strong Financial Position with $72,546 Operating Surplus for 2025-26 Season
MELVILLE, Saskatchewan – The Melville Millionaires Junior A Hockey Club is pleased to announce a positive financial result for the 2025-26 fiscal year, reporting a surplus of $72,546 on total revenues of $1.09 million, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to long-term sustainability and continued investment in player development and community engagement.
For the first time in many years, the Melville Millionaires organization is operating completely debt-free.
“Becoming debt-free is a major milestone for our organization and something our Board of Directors is extremely proud of,” said Melville Millionaires President Daniel Hope. “This achievement reflects years of hard work by our volunteers, staff, sponsors, fans, and community partners. It puts the organization in a strong position to continue investing in our players and building for the future.”
The club generated $1,088,213 in total revenue, an increase of more than $56,000 from the previous fiscal year, driven by growth in playoff revenues, corporate sponsorships, fundraising initiatives, and strong community support throughout the season.
“These results reflect the incredible commitment of our fans, sponsors, volunteers, billet families, and community partners,” said Hope. “While we continue to invest significantly in our players and hockey operations, we are proud to have maintained a positive financial position while delivering a successful season both on and off the ice.”
A major contributor to the club’s financial success was its playoff run.
“Although the playoff run was shorter than we wanted, hosting a third game against our rivals from Yorkton provided a significant boost for our organization,” Hope said. “The atmosphere in the rink was outstanding, and the support from our fans demonstrated just how important Millionaires hockey is to our community.”
Fundraising efforts once again played a vital role in supporting operations, generating more than $304,000. Signature events including the Cash Lotto, Comedy Night, Ag Fundraiser, Golf Tournament, Jersey Auction, Square Board, Club 400, and Booster Booth activities demonstrated the community’s continued dedication to the Millionaires organization.
The club also made significant investments in enhancing the player experience and supporting its hockey operations. Hockey-related expenses increased as the organization expanded spending on player development, education, equipment, travel, and staffing. Total hockey operations expenses reached approximately $634,000, reflecting the club’s ongoing commitment to providing athletes with a first-class junior hockey environment.
Despite rising costs across the hockey industry, the Millionaires remained financially responsible, finishing the year with a positive operating surplus while continuing to invest in infrastructure, programming, and player services.
“As we look ahead to the 2026-27 season, our focus remains on building a competitive team, enhancing the fan experience, and strengthening the financial foundation of the organization,” Hope added. “The support of our community continues to be the driving force behind everything we do, and these results demonstrate what can be accomplished when Melville rallies behind its team.”
The Melville Millionaires extend their sincere appreciation to season ticket holders, sponsors, volunteers, billet families, alumni, game-day staff, and fans whose support continues to make junior hockey possible in Melville.
