MILS HIRE NEW HEAD COACH/GM

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Melville Millionaires Board of Directors are pleased to announce the hiring of Doug Johnson as the new General Manager and Head Coach of the Melville Millionaires Junior A Hockey Club.

Doug is originally from Swift Current, Saskatchewan, and is a familiar face in junior hockey. Doug most recently was with the OCN Blizzard (MJHL), making their first playoff appearance in over five years. Doug was a finalist for the MJHL Coach of the year and accomplished a 29-point increase from the previous season, ending with a 33w-19-2-4 record.

Many will also recall Doug’s success with the Nipawin Hawks from 2010 to 2021, winning the 2018 SJHL Championship title and was a three-time recipient of the SJHL Coach of the Year award. Doug’s experience also extends into the USHL, where he was an assistant coach from 2005 to 2010.

Over his coaching tenure to date, Doug has coached over 75 players who have been the recipient of Division 1 scholarships, along with moving players onto CIS and the WHL. His experience and knowledge will be an asset to lead our group this upcoming season.

The Board of Directors are excited to welcome Doug and his entire family to the organization and look forward to the start of the 2022/23 hockey season!
